July 11, 2025 Friday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:59 to 3:11 pm and there were seven seals seen during that time.
Out on the rock flats Lanika side of LPB was RH76 and PO11. PO11 had an extended nursing session. PO11 turned 4 weeks old yesterday (10th). Both mom and pup seem to be doing well. They entered the surge channel at 2:51 and Marilyn did not see them again.
At 1:23 pm Marilyn noticed a weaner had hauled out on the Lanikai side of LPB. She later determined this was RU24 based on his male belly. He then moved further up the beach towards the 1BS.
At 1:18 pm, RL12 Aukai and PO12 hauled out to the middle of LPB. Aukai was ID'd based on having two red tags. PO12 is four weeks old today. Marilyn saw on nursing session before PO12 moved partially behind mom. Both mom and pup seem to be doing well.
About 100 feet Lanikai side of the 2BS was an Adult Female: older coat, yellow tan ventral, female belly, just starting to molt (about 5%) unsure about tags.
Up from the SRI surge channel was weaner RU38: weaner size, shape and coloration, two red tags and light female belly.

Team R&B's first stop today was at plains. Both Lei Ola RH48 and Kaale RH32 were in a zone by the cabins. They got hit by some waves and RH32 Kaale moved, but Lei Ola stayed. He kept moving and looking back at her. Then he rolled down about 11:45 am and entered the water. He stayed int he area rolling checking out RH48, seemingly wanting her to follow him. He continued to roll around, barking with his mouth wide open.  Lei Ola got hit with a wave, she turned and moved higher up shore. Kaale came up onshore so fast, landed and went right up to her. She wasn't
happy, so there posturing with words, a crowd gathered to watch.  Finally Lei Ola gave him a good nip and he again rolled his way to the water. This time he left for good, leaving Lei Ola on the beach alone.

Heading back to the west side they stopped at cliffs and found RM31 Kai. He was alone resting on the rocks.  There were the adoring fans making sea lion sounds, hmmmm. RM31 was aware of them but just stayed put.

They kept heading west and spotted a small seal on shore. There were
two signs up and they ID'd RP28 Wakeam when they arrived. One sign was mounted on a shovel with a clip (very creative).  They watched as the tourist walked by him  Not much they could do.

They ended their day back at cliffs where there was another seal. On the rocks resting was RP30 Puka.
