July 21, 2025 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:47 to 2:48 pm and there were seven seals seen during her viewing session.
The moms and pups were again on LPB:
RH76 Kala and PO11 were on the back Lanikai side of LPB. Marilyn saw at least one long nursing session and the rest of time both mom and pup were snoozing. PO11 is definitely a male.
RL12 Aukai and PO12 were on LPB in the middle nearer the waterline. Mom and pup seem fine. They entered the water 1:43 pm and hauled out later at 2:27 pm. Marilyn saw one extended nursing session after they returned from their swim. RL12 ID was confirmed by the red tag in her RRF.
It would be really nice if NOAA could get to RI before the pups wean and get a temp tag on one of the two male pups. (fingers crossed)
Near 3BS were two seals:
Adult Female: adult size, new coat, two red tags and a lower neck scar.
Juvenile Female: large juvenile size, older coat, yellow female belly and two red tags. The JF entered the water briefly and hauled out a short distance from the AF.
Out on RRB was weaner RU24: weaner size and coloration, two red tags and light male belly.

Team R&B arrived at plains and Lei Ola RH84 was at the waterline facing the ocean. They thought she was getting ready to leave.
Some knucklehead dug a 4 ft deep hole, which Barb almost fell into. She kicked the sand into hole to fill it in. And thankfully the waves took care of the rest after a while.
Lei Ola still has a little more molting to do, so she still at 99% . Her face still has some old fur hanging on, one spot on her fore flipper and one spot on her ankle.
Team R&B spent two hours hanging out hoping another seal would visit. They spent time talking with folks who came by to ask questions. Some who have been out daily and surprised to see her still there.
Lei Ola kept getting hit by the waves and she finally moved up.
