Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:45 to 3:06 pm and there were at least maybe nine seals seen during that time.
Initially, only RL12 Aukai and her male pup PO12 were nursing and then snoozing in the middle of LPB. Aukai is looking a bit thin, the pup looking plump. They entered the water about 1:30 pm.
Kala RH76 and her male pup PO11 were in the water when Marilyn arrived. She saw them on the rock flats Lanikai of LPB and then they hauled out to the back Lanikai side of LPB at about 1:45 pm.
RL12 and PO12 hauled back out about 2:50 pm and moved to the middle back of LPB.
Initially alone near the 3BS was an Adult Female: adult size, new coat, light to medium gray female belly, two red tags and scar on her lower neck/upper chest. At 12:58, weaner RU38 hauled out to the A/F and went into snooze mode. RU38 was ID'd by her weaner size and coloration, two red tags, and female belly.
Out near SRI were two seals. Marilyn believes this was the Juvenile Female that has been on island for much of the past week. The JF was large juvenile size, older coat, yellow tan female belly and two red tags.
Near the JF was weaner RU24: weaner size and coloration, tan male belly and two red tags.
At 1:55 pm Marilyn saw that the JF and RU24 had entered the water through the SRI channel.
At 2:14 pm, either two or three seals showed up near shore where the AF and RU38 were. Then RU38 entered the water and Marilyn saw lots of interaction of at least three seals in the water.
Then at 2:28 pm, a Sub-adult Female hauled out to the AF. The SF was sub-adult size, older coat, dark brown female belly and two red tags.
At 2:54 there were four seals together near the 3BS, the AF, the SF, a JF and one of the weaners.
Team R&B spent time driving around checking all the usual spots. Finally they saw a seal onshore at Makaha near the rocks. They hurried over and found RM31 Kai., but he wasn't alone. No there wasn't another seal but four local girls getting very close. It is always upsetting to see this happen, and I do understand Team R&B frustration. No matter what you do people still remain ignorant. One of the firls offered a fish to the seal, thankfully he didn't take it. Finally the girls moved once they saw their picture being taken.
Next they saw dolphins and while trying to get a photo they happen to look to the right and there was a big seal. They didn't know who it was. They had to leave but did return later and he was still there in the same position. The seal turned over and they saw the applied bleach N70 and knew was R617.
