Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:16 to 2:16 pm and there were six seal seen during that time.
Over on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB were were weaner RU24 and Mom and Pup pair 1.
Weaner RU24 started near the LPB surge channel, but then moved to the back of the rock flats on the slope up the cliff. RU24 was ID'd by his weaner size, shape, two red tags and male belly.
Marilyn was unable to distinguish the two mom and pup pairs from each other. On the rock flats was Mom and Pup pair 1. There was a nursing session and then a snooze.
On the Lanikai side of LPB was Mom and Pup pair 2. Again Marilyn saw the pup nurse and then snooze. She was unable to see the tags on the rear flipper of mom to make an ID.
Initially on the rock flats of RRB was weaner RU38. Weaner size, shape coloration, two red tags.
There were apparently some people on the island since Marilyn was last there on Tuesday. There were foot prints in the sand and someone spelled out UTS in the sand. (Marilyn assumes it means University of Texas at Austin, but doesn't know for sure).
A young frigate bird, an Iwa swooped down about 100 feet in front of Marilyn and grabbed a fish out of the water. By the time she got the camera repositioned, it was some distance away.
Team R&B were out and covered a lot of ground today not having much luck. They even went out to plains and there weren't any seals to be found. So they headed back to the west side and they got a call of two seals hauling out at plains. ( most people would throw in the towel but not them)
On their way they saw a seal on the rocks resting at one of the west side beached. The area is difficult because of all the dogs and campers. They walked along the road and tried to make an ID from afar. The seal seemed to be adult size, lots of green, and they couldn't see tags. They did see a scar on the head on the right. They just couldn't make the ID so it was reported as an Unknown Adult.
They made it to plains and the signs were up. It was very windy and the signs went down a couple of times. There was Lei Ola RH48 and her Unknown Male together again. Team R&B were there for two hours and still couldn't male an ID.
The two seals began to argue, Lei Ola galumphed toward the signs. She made her way right up at the signs, looking up at them. (hmmm maybe she was reading lol) Team R&B texted the lifeguard letting them know they couldn't move the signs, they were stuck in the sand.
Lei Ola moved up higher along with her male friend who is stuck to her like glue. He stays very close.
Finally the lifeguard came and helped move the signs.
Lastly but certainly not least they did see the dolphins out by pokai bay.
