6-20-2013 DB's Dailies:Kaiwi&Kolohe@SC, Buster@SB, Right Spot@Waialua, Benny@KoOlina, Ewa Girl&Pup@RR

It was a bit rainy and junk on the morning session, but I managed to find Kaiwi (RK96) doing 5-7 minute dives at Spitting Cave.

Since I did not find Buster at SC, I thought it possible that his recent behavior might have changed, but nope..... at 0948 Ocean Safety called with the report of an animal just hauling out to Sandy Beach. When I arrived at 0955 I found Buster (RV08) fronting the Half Point break. He would remain all day. Gayle reported him gone at 1700.

After many hours of Rabbit Island observations, including a 1725 recheck I found nobody on RI today. This is the first day with no Kainoa in my life.

At 1700 Kimo called with the report of Kolohe (RW22) at Spitting Cave. Apparently, Kaiwi was no longer there, nor was she at any of her other hangouts.

Dana called at 0932 to advise that "N6", Right Spot (R016) was on the beach in Waialua today.

Dana called again at 1158 to advise of an animal at Paradise Cove. Then Billands called at 1246 to advise that the animal was Benny (RE74) and that he had apparently galumphed over the rocks from Paradise Cove to the next beach, Lanikuhonua, according to witnesses.

The Billands also did their Reef Runway session today. On D#34 they found Ewa Girl & Pup happy and well. Tracy had gone on record the other day, making the FEMALE call based on Donna's shots, and the Billands also said today that they think the pup is a female, though the kid just wouldn't give them a good shot.

 Buster @ Sandys
Ta Da ... here's little chubby on day 34... with her majesty Ewa Girl
She looks bigger than she did 2 days ago
 muzzle changing color

ahhh even her chest is looking light colored!!!
 Benny at KoOlina
is that a new scar on his head? or an old battle wound?

Thanks to diane, she stayed with Benny till 5pm.

Mr Benny was at Paradise Cove to begin with, but, as he galumphed over to the sand, folks were right there. SO...he took off, over the rocks, in between that opening between the rocks and the sand, all the way to LaniKuhonua site.

When he got there, he plowed his way up shore, on to the peoples things. THey got all their stuff and moved away from the seal. Rob educated them and they were fine about the seal there.

That wound on his head is NEW, saw it the other day and reported it. Dont know how he got those marks, but its healing fine.

THE PUP IS SENSATIONAL, Ewa GIRL is a great MOM!!! We always enjoy watching Ewa Girl and her pup who is one independent kid. Mom so patient, wise, yet firm with the kid.

After a feed, they both went right to sleep the rest of our visit. Ewa Girl always blocks the pup from the high waves with her big body, amazing seals. I so appreciate our Monk Seals, I wish all humans did too.
