6-23-2013 DB's Dailies: M38&Kainoa@RI, Kaiwi@SC&BF, Buster@SB, Ka'ena,R912&RL42@KP

At 0734 Marilyn called from Spitting Cave with the report of an animal doing 7 minute dives. With the "Victory at Sea" conditions, and ID was proving impossible. I arrived at 0810, and at 0831 we lucked out and got the Kaiwi (RK96) ID. She was still there when I departed at 0900, but Gayle said she was gone on her afternoon check.

Ocean Safety called at 0932 to report an animal just hauling out to Sandy Beach. When I arrived at 0941 I found Buster (RV08) at the Gas Chambers (Blowhole end) break. He has remained the rest of the day. This is D#10 at SB, and D#12 of haul outs at SB and surrounding area. Buster departed at 1728.
I got back to Makai Pier for R#2 of my Rabbit Island checks and found what would ultimately prove to be M38 at the far left end of the beach. He would enter the water and and haul out again fronting 3BS, at 1147, allowing the ID. On a 1505 recheck I found Kainoa (RN04), 100 ft left of 1BS. M38 had also relocated to 60 ft left of 1BS.

Kimo called from the end of the world, at 1203, with the report of Ka'ena at the point. He would check in again at 1419 to advise that on his way out on the Waianae side trail, he found R912 at the half way point, and RL42 at the parking lot end of the trail.

Gayle checked in at 1626 with news of Kaiwi (RK96) at Buster Flats.

Dera called at 1420 with the report of "N14", KC (RK28) at the Mokes today.

Diver/photographer Russell Gilbert , having talked with Karen Bryan about the blog, sent photos.

One was taken at Kahe Pt on 6-16-13, and two were taken near China Walls on 6-20-13. The interesting thing about the shots is that Kolohe (RW22) is in both of them. The Kahe shot shows just him. The CW shots are of Kolohe and Kaiwi (RK96). Thank you Russell & Klaus.
