On a pan at 1156 I found what unfortunately ended the day a much dreaded U/M, just hauling out the far left end of the beach. I drove Tracy crazy (crazier) with calls, first saying that the animal had a natural bleach on the neck, which turned out to be debris, and then to say that it was T21M, but that turned out to be debris also. The bottom line is that the day ended with no ID on this animal . Tags were inconclusive. Maybe tomorrow . RIP hauled out to join him at 1542. They had a few words, but ultimately settled down to snooze mode.
Team Billand is BACK !!! They checked in at 1640 reporting Pohaku (RO28) and Noa (R6FI) together at Maili Pt. They called again at 1717 from Campbell Industrial Park. Barbara's sister had seen 2 animals there, earlier. When the Team arrived they found nobody, however the sister had said that it was "1 big one & 1 little one, and that the little one had an EW on the tag". That would me Max (R5EW). At 1807 Barbara advised of an animal at WP, at the fence line. Barbara confirmed Kermit (R4DG) at 1812.
Speaking of the fence line. I got Heather's 4-6-11 photos of the WP , fence line animal it turned out to be Makaiwi (R4DF). Thank you Heather !
U/M and RIP
