This is why we do it

Thanks to Val for sending a great shot of KP2... and given the recent events he is a great reminder of why we do what we do. The love and support that went for this little pups survival is amazing. We had folks from The Marine Mammal Center and input from some Greek experts... along with the long list of volunteers.... NOAA's efforts in seeing this through brought a community of caretakers together as well as the successful release of a healthy seal pup.

P.S. - okay I am bad, this isn't KP2.... its a RW20, male born last year... either way it all still applies... doesn't matter which little critter it is.... they deserve to be here. Thanks Val for the correction.

Aloha,
Actually this seal is RW20-21. A male that was born at Kalaupapa last year. He is a sweetie and his face is priceless.
KP2 does continue to keep the Molokai volunteers busy--Someday I should write a book with all his silly behaviors in the recent months it indeed would make you giggle. val

Beautiful photograph!!!!

Yes, we could use a giggle or two to keep the spirits up, what with all the psychopaths running around with guns and baseball bats.
