The Rabbit Island cast for today was Ewa Girl and Pup (D#12)and Benny, at the left end of the beach, and Kolohe at the right end , just right of the 3BS.
There were 3 observed feeds, and 2 observed swim sessions. There was a serious NE swell out there today, with good sized waves and rough water conditions. Also lots of surfers, but there were no incidents. The kid definitely put in the hardest water day so far, but seems to have no problems with the conditions.
There was one problem however. On the 1212 haul out the kid could not negotiate the cut in the beach front sand. Mom let the pup work at it for quite a while, but ultimately moved back down to the incline to do a feed.
After the last swim of the day, I figured she was going to have to find a new haul out place, and sure enough , she decided on the far left end of the beach , where there was no cut in the beach. Unfortunately, that was Benny's location all day. Benny saw Ewa Girl coming and decided to give up his spot to her. Only an idiot would run afoul of a motivated Mom. He moved off 20 ft to the left, and all was well. Aloha, DB
