Hi donna, for this blog entry can you please add a p.s. ... After the necropsy was completed it was concluded that Artimus died by drowning. Most likely in a net.
Today was our last day with the elephant seals so we took full advantage - tube feeding and restraining as much as possible. The more practice we get the more comfortable we feel. We also did some hand feeding of fish in the pool which is always fun. Tomorrow we will be working with the adorable little harbor seals. We got some bad news from our Greek friends that their recently released rehabilitated pup "Artimus" was killed by dynamite fishing. Artimus was 10 days old when they found her abandoned by her mother after a big storm and they had raised her until she was four months old when they released her a month ago. Dynamite fishing is illegal in Greece but it unfortunately is still practiced. It is a big loss but hopefully will bring about some needed awareness. Hope all is well back home. Sorry no pics today. Aloha, Jen, Rafe & Dana

I am saddened to hear the loss of the seal, Artemus. God bless his soul. Thank you MMC for all you did for him. Such a tragedy.
I am at a loss for words on the death of another MONK SEAL, a FEMALE on KAUAI. Why??? I hope they find the BASTARDS that killed it. What are we to do people???? What are we to do???????
Barb, I'm with you. Such a sad world when beautiful animals are attacked and killed for no reason. I am saying prayers for the folks on Kauai. Such another tragic and senseless loss. Please find this person and make sure they are never allowed to enjoy another moment on or near our beaches anywhere close to these beloved animals.
If that anxious to kill something, this person should be sent to Afghanistan to shoot the Taliban and dodge bombs. Of course since the seal isn't shooting back, he probably is just a cowardly bully, and an insult to the troops.
