Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:17 to 2:52 pm and there were four seals seen during that time.
Alone on LPB was RQ44 Mahina: sub-adult to adult size, 100% molted with gray female belly and three red tags. In several of the photos Marilyn noted it appears there is a turtle on beach behind her.
Near SRI was an Adult Male: adult size, old coat with lots of green, two red tags and male belly.
On the rock flats between SRI and RRB were two seals:
Sub-adult Unknown: large juvenile to small sub-adult size, old coat with some green, two red tags, unknown sex.
Weaner Unknown: weaner to juvenile size, newer coat, light gray ventral, two red tags, could not determine sex.
Team R&B started their day at Pokai. They found RH76 Kala alone resting on the rocks. Later when they checked she had moved to the zen pond and still alone.
While at pokai they were thrilled to see two seals foraging. It was the dynamic duo RH48 Lei Ola with Nalu R3CX. They stayed out on the ocean side today. Barb got a pic of Lei Ola eating fish.
They saw a seal swim by at Kahe. They were not able to get an ID and the seal never stopped just heading west. The seal was reported as an Unknown Adult. They unfortunately weren't able to get a photo of it.
Next Team R&B got a call from their niece who was out and about. She told them there was a big seal and a baby seal. So of course they went flying over immediately. First they found RL42 Leia. Beside her was was her son RU40 Wai who was born this year. He is in good condition, no fishing line seen. They were thrilled to meet up with the mom and son.
They scanned the beach and spotted another seal from afar. They made their way down to the area. It was an adult male, but they couldn't get to the area because it was blocked off. They were not able to come up with an ID so it was reported as an Unknown Male.
