Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island today from just after 1 pm until just after 3 pm. She started off at the pier and then relocated to the beach park.
There were three seals on island today. The first seal was located near Seal Rock Inlet, reported as an UAF (unknown adult female). Adult size, older coat, mottled female belly and one tag.
Afte about 30 minutes Marilyn realized there was a seal at the extreme right of Rocky Right Beach, partially hidden by waterfront rocks. Then to her surprise it moved and turned over and there was another seal.
UU#1 adult size, clean coat, unable to determine sex or if it had tags. Appears to be a large adult.
UU#2 juvenile size, lighter belly, Marilyn did not see enough of the belly to determine sex and could not see tags.
Team Billand's first find of the day came close to 8:30 am. Initially they did not see any critters, but they heard them. There they were to the right, vocalizing and mouthing at each other for a spot.
RG28 Lefty went up on mid rocks and settled in.
R3CX followed after a few minutes, they had words and then both settled on separate rocks.
They spotted another seal approaching getting ready to haul out. They ID'd Kekoa RK72 who landed up on lower rocks.
Holokai RG40 came in next, looking over the rocks at Kekoa. No reaction from Kekoa, so Holokai proceeded to climb up and took a nap. Barb noticed he has a natural bleach on his 3rd hind left flipper. This was the first time she noticed it.
At 10:30 Team Billand headed over to check plains and there they found a seal on shore by one of the life guard towers. There was Buster RV08 looking alert, aware of the people on the crowded beach.
At 2 pm Team Billand returned to the westside beach and found another critter on lower rocks. Little green RL20 Kalua was resting in between Kekoa and Holokai.
