I wanted to start the blog this evening with my thoughts and prayers to the soldiers that went down in the black hawk helicopter crash last evening at Ka'ena Point. I know a couple of folks were going to head out there today but the area is closed off. There is still an active search and rescue in place.... I also hope that none of the debris or fuel will affect the area where so many Hawaiian monk seals call their home.
Now onto our regular scheduled dailies:
Team Billand's first find was RN14, he was alone snoozing up on the rocks. They left for an appointment and would check on him later.
Later when Team Billand returned to check on RN14 they found him and Ka'ale (RH32) briefly hanging out together. They actually shared a seal hug together. Then Ka'ale dove into the water followed by RN14. After looking for Ka'ale for a bit he hauled out alone.
Team T&D checked on Momma Ua Malie and PO4 today, they are doing fine and PO4 is growing. They also found 2 year old Holokai on their travels today. He looks great, happy to see this little dude.
Kolohe was spotted at noon by Gayle and then at 3:00 by Marilyn at Lanai Lookout. He was Id'd by his cue ball natural bleach mark behind his RFF.
LAST, but not least I was sent two amazing photos of RJ58 Kaimana, this kid is fat and looks quite content at her new home! What a chubbo!

I too hope the monk seals come out of this tragic event at Kaena Pt unscathed. Do you have any updates on the seals environment out there? Thanks for all your work!
