At 1157 I found what would prove to Kainoa (RN04), fronting the Morning Glory, 20 ft left of 1BS.
Also at 1157 spied a lump snuggled against the log, partially visible, 40 ft left of 1BS. Thankfully, the lump rolled at 1245 and that beautiful right fore flipper natural bleach told me it was Kea (RN46).
On a check of the Lanai Lookout Flats at 1349 I found Kolohe (RW22).
Team Billand called with the report of Pohaku (RO28) once again foraging off shore at Campbell Industrial Park.
At 0915 posse member Christian Young texted that Rocky (RH58) was at Kaimana Beach. His excellent shots show all quadrants of molt. I’d guesstimate 80% or so. Karen Rohter documented Benny’s arrival at 1157..I am aware of Karen Rohter & Colleen Heyer on Rocky duty today. If there are others, Thank You too !
At 1655 Ocean Safety call advised that “the seal that was at Kaimana is now between stands 2E & 2F”. He had no other info on a 2nd animal remaining at Kaimana. Colleen advised that she is responding. She confirmed that the animal was Benny.
Team Billand checked in again at 1218 with the report of U’ilani (RN36) at Maili Point.
Mahalos to Howard & Carola Johnston for today’s Holokai fix ! Cute da’ kid !
Speaking of kids, our pal Val, sent shots of Pohaku’s boy, RF28. Initial indications are that he may be beginning his molt. It is often a difficult call on those first couple of molts. I’d say Val made a good find, judging by the muzzle shots. It will be interesting to see what the upcoming days say.
