DB Post Friday 10/9

At 0650 , from the Makapuu Overview, I found Mojo and RIP up in the Morning Glory, directly below 3BS. When I got back to Rabbit Island observations at 0839, from MO, Mojo and RIP were no longer visible at that location. I did find Duke and another animal , which would prove to be Mojo, partially visible behind the water front rocks at the far right end of the beach. Only Mojo was visible at that location when I got to Makai Pier for the day. On a recheck from MP at 1506 I found that Duke had remained there with Mojo today.

At 0839 from Makai Pier I found Kolohe out on the left end rock flats. He would remain there all day.

At 1213, two females on Stand Up Paddle Boards landed at the left end of the beach on Rabbit Island. I called DOCARE at 1215, and by 1227 DOCARE Officer Alex McBarnet had checked in to say that he was observing the two from Kaupo Beach Park. The pair explored the beach for a while as far as 2BS, and then began returning to their boards. They discovered Kolohe out on the left end flats, and went out to take photos of each other with Kolohe in the background. Fortunately, Kolohe appeared totally unaware of their presence. The pair departed the island at 1301 and were met by Officer McBarnet upon their arrival back on the Oahu side at approximately 1415.

Team Billand called at 0558 to report Irma at White Plains and again at 0728 to report Kermit's arrival. Judging by subsequent phone calls, and today's photos it looked like yet another day in the White Plains ZOO !!! Waikiki and Sandy Beach are nothing compared to the nightmare of White Plains. Thank You to all who spent the day in "the belly of the beast" !

Kolohe
MOJO RIP
