8/9/2014 DB's Dailies: Kea@SB, Buster@BH, Kainoa,Aukai,Nani&UU@RI, Kolohe@GR, M&M@WP, Rocky@Kaimana, RIP & Pohaku@Nanakuli

At 0600 I found an overnighted Kea (RN46) on the outfall at the east end of Sandy Beach. He has remained all day. We departed at dark. Kea remains.

At 0614 I found an U/U (Buster???) doing 7 minute dives at Blowhole.

At 0730 I found Kainoa (RN04) at 40 ft left of 1BS, and Aukai (RL12) 30 ft right of 1BS, on Rabbit Island. Aukai would depart at 1053. As Kainoa was moving down at 1029 a head suddenly popped up from the Morning Glory behind him. I’d had no clue whatsoever that there was an animal there. That animal would remain an U/U, departing at 1150. As the U/U was moving down I once again became aware of yet another animal that I’d had no idea was there, being totally hidden in the Morning Glory. This animal would prove to be Nani (RK60). She would move to the left end of the beach, and at that point I saw her left shoulder N60 bleach. I’d last seen the girl on 6-18-14, on RI. She would remain the rest of the day.

At 0613 Team Billand found Kolohe (RW22) at Maili Guard Rails. They reported is departure at 1320, but would forage in the area. They observed another animal join him, but no ID was confirmed.

At 0656 they reported M&M (R020) at the showers, White Plains.

Ocean Safety called at 1013 with word of an animal at Kaimana Beach, Waikiki. At 1117 Melanie called to advise that she was on he scene and had seen Rocky’s (RH58) right shoulder pit scar. Melanie’s shots confirm the Rocky ID. This marks the return of Rocky to Oahu after weaning her pup on Kauai on 8-6-14. Welcome Home !!!!

Dana called at 1414 with the report of RIP (RR70)&Pohaku(RO28) at Nanakuli.

The Billands & M&M are still at WP, so check the blog in the morning for their day.

Last but certainly not least, Happy 1st Birthday to Luana (RN58) !!!

Can u believe this seal? She just weanes a pup and fought tropical storm seas back to Oahu. No wonder she looks so thin. That kind of work out is bound to show.
