Marilyn met up with Diane and Lesley to check out Ka'ena Point.
Before heading out to Ka'ena Point they made a stop to check on mom BG R303 and her male pup PO12. It looked like that had recently hauled out and were in snooze mode. PO12 looks like he's put on weight and his coat is beginning to lighten.
Slightly closer to Ka'ena Point was RL74 Kami snoozing alone on the beach. She was ID'd by her sub-adult size and L74 tags.
A short distance away closer to camp erdman were:
R330 Squinty: adult size, about 90% molted, male belly and small ventral nb and tag 3CA.
Just hauling out and moving up to R330 was RL47 Kamakana. Squinty was not happy with RL47's approach so they had a few words before going into snooze mode. RL47 was ID'd by his L47 tag.
On the rocks near the inlet of the main pool was R418 Kamea: she was ID'd by her sub-adult to adult size, newer coat and a scar on her left neck area.
On the rock reef outside the main pool was RG32: adult size, older coat, male belly and scar on his forehead.
On back beach was RT98 Eha: weaner size, tan coat, light tan female belly and T99 tag.
On Marilyn's way home from Ka'ena point she made a quick stopwhen she noticed a seal hauling out on a east side beach. The seal was R016 Right Spot: adult size, new coat, nb on her right rear side, female belly and a variety of ventral scars.
Marilyn also found RT62 again hauled out. She was sleeping peacefully among the leaves from a nearby tree. RT62: small weaner size, tan female belly and RT62/T63 tags.
Team R&B included junior sealette today. They first stopped at rest-camp where once again there were multiple seals foraging. First to be ID'd was R3CX Nalu. He was out there foraging like crazy.
Next was RM31 Kai who went from foraging to bothering his buddy RL20 Kalua. RL20 Kalua was quiet today, must be happy to be hanging out with RM31. The two of them were very busy playing and eating.
Miss Lei Ola RH48 was out there foraging with the males. She did her best to keep her distance until RL20 caught up with her and started bugging her. He wasn't the only one, RM31 Kai made his way over and did his part annoying her.
After leaving rest camp they spotted a seal at cliffs. The seal was resting on the rocks, clean coat, but they just couldn't confirm its ID. It had a subtle bleach mark on its side. They didn't see any tags because of its position, but they did see a scar on the fore flipper. They thought maybe R617 but will have to labeled as an U/U for now.
Lastly at another west side location they spotted a seal resting on the rock at the waterfront. They were happy to see RH76 Kala. Happy that she moved from her previous location where there are lots of dogs and people. She is looking good, resting alone and was kind enough to show her tag to confirm her ID.
