2-24-2011 DB Dailies

At 0846, from Kaupo Beach Park, I found what would prove to be Duke , newly hauled out to Seal Rock Inlet on Rabbit Island.  It would take a couple more hours to actually get the ID.  He remained the rest of the day.
Team Billand had their hands full with Makaiwi fronting #1701, and Kermit fronting #1813 at the Nimitz Beach cottages.
At 0839 Tracy advised that there was an animal at Diamond Head.  Colleen would later confirm that it was Irma.   Tracy also mentioned that BG has been at Kalaupapa , Molokai for a few days.
After a ceremony lead by Walter Keale , at Kaupo Beach Park, Sam returned to the ocean at around 0900, just a few flipper flaps from his home at Rabbit Island.  (I have to add it was appropriately touching to have us gather for Sam, and I am very touched that DB was chosen to join the family in returning him back to the ocean. Thank you all that attended, and thank you Keale for your wonderful words and heart).
A 1730 call from posse member Jen Christian, following email, brought news that T21M  was at the Shooting Range in Ewa Beach. Her husband Jeff, found him snoozin' behind the range.

DB's history of Ewa Girl and his naming of Sam made such an impact for all those that were there. The initial ceremony touched us all. The separate moment with DB and Hawaiian Kapuna that honored this young Sam will forever live in my mind and heart of Pono of love for the living creatures that we are all so very much responsible for caring for. There is a meeting of mind and culture when it comes to something so precious. Mahalo to all that strive to make it all a balance of life.
