11/25/2010 DB Dailies

It might have been Turkey Day, but it sure felt like Groundhog Day. My day began at 0600 with Right Spot having overnighted at Sandy Beach. I got her cordoned off and she remained until 1300.

From Makai Pier at 0719 I found what would prove to be Sam to the right of 3BS on Rabbit Island. A couple of minutes later, at 0722, Buster hauled out to Seal Rock Inlet on RI. Buster would remain all day. Sam would depart at 1134.

On our Spitting Cave check we found Kolohe doing 7 minute dives.

We returned to Sandy Beach to recheck Right Spot at 0850, and to our surprise we got several glimpses over a 6 minute period of a small animal foraging in the shallows just 20 ft off shore of our location, in 3-5 ft of water. Marilyn managed to get a "Loch Ness Monster" shot of the animal, but I definitely saw Duke's big ol' beautiful N18 bleach. We lost him in the chop and glary conditions.

At 0928 Makapuu lifeguard , Kawika, called to advise of an animal just hauling out to the left end of the beach. When I arrived at 0936 I found KC once again on the beach, almost
exactly where she hauled out yesterday. She has remained all day. I picked up the rope and left the signs at 1830. KC remains.

Team Billand reported Kermit at the bunker on the west side of the Nimitz jetty at 0836. He would later relocate to Kermit's Reef just down the beach, nearer to the jetty. They witnessed an unusual sight when Kermit abruptly entered the water and spewed a tako, and then ate it ... again !

They found Irma at White Plains and witnesses said that Benny had been with her earlier. Benny returned at 1020. Barbara checked in at 1638 to advise that Benny remained on the beach, however Irma was off shore, foraging.
