Yet another day of humans getting in the way of a seals hauling in. Benny made several attempts along his journey to haul up,I witnessed a seal going up several spots at Windsock. Our car battery was going dead, we had a hard time starting up, but, DID! Too late, humans did the job of running a seal off, but we caught up with Benny, followed him, and to our delight, hauled up with another seal...who was our Princess...Makaiwi!! It was the first meeting we witnessed, Benny sniffing her da kine, and other areas of her. Makaiwi wondering, what ta heck is this guy doing??? But that little girl defended herself, growling at THE BENNY. She even gave him a good hook to the face with her flipper, sending Benny back a bit. She got out of his face, moving into the fence poles, getting stuck, where Benny knew she couldnt get through. Benny then bumped her with his snout, Makaiwi, seemed to understand, DONT GO THAT WAY!! Benny made it through the fence, as if wanting Makaiwi to follow him, and Makaiwi did. But...she stopped and stayed on the EB end..Benny on the White Plains end of fence. And the waves were huge, Benny went in front of Makaiwi as if to protect her...oh what a gentlemen, so cool. And when the jerks decided to walk passed our seals, like ten feet from them, Benny stood watch, giving DA LOOK of Death, ready to charge. No one did any thing, all was ok, Benny made sure. Pretty cool to have the opportunity to witness this behavior of two seals on shore. Thanks to Rachel Diaz too, for defending our seals with me, while Robert went to buy a new battery in Pearl Ridge. We stayed till 7pm..and the two seals went off into the sunset, Makaiwi first, followed by a very STUDLY..Benny.
