Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:10 to 1:15 pm and there were four seals seen during that time.
NOAA had planned to go to Rabbit Island to tag the three weaners, but ocean conditions were not safe so their schedule for another day. So the team went to Ka'ena Point and tagged PO6 E'ono, male who is now RV36 (tags V36/V37).
On Rabbit Island all the seals were on LPB near the surge channel. Marilyn is reasonably sure the two weaners that she could see were PO4 and PO5, both males. They moved some but mostly stayed near the channel.
Nearby was MO10 and her pup PO10. They had at least one nursing session and then the pup sort of wandered around. Both mom and pup seem healthy.
At 1:06 pm, the third weaner which Marilyn believes was PO3 female, hauled out of the channel near the other weaners, but by 1:13 pm, all of the weaners were gone. Presumably into the LPB channel.
Team R&B started on the west side. They were watching and saw a seal coming up on the rocks. It was none other than the big beautiful RH76 Kala. She had lots of visitors today, so Team R&B hung out for a while. Even the Hawaiian Practitioners visited with her today.
Over at electric beach they spotted RU22 on shore and she was alone. There was a dog with a leash running loose. A big wave hit her hard, that she spun around, as if she had no control. After the hit she galumphed up the sand to higher ground.
Next they headed over to plains. There was only one seal on shore. RT06 was back and there was a nice zone set up for him.
Lastly they watched the dolphins doing what they do best, putting on a magnificent show.
