8/10/2010 DB Dailies

As the day began at 0638 I found RIP & Sadie together to the left of 1BS, and Kolohe at the right end of the beach, on Rabbit Island. RIP and Sadie would remain at that location all day. Kolohe would relocate to 3BS. His D#5 molt was 95%.

On my 0713 Spitting Cave check I found Buster doing 9 minute dives.

I got back to Makai Pier at 0835, and found Duke amongst the water front rocks on the far left end of the beach at 0923. He would remain there all day.

At 1249 Sam hauled out to join Sadie & RIP at 1BS. He moved directly to Sadie and was being a real pest with alot of nuisance nuzzling, but Sadie tolerated her little brother very well. Surprisingly, RIP showed no interest at all in his probable son, and just let the other two play.

The importance of the posse was well demonstrated at 1205 with a call from Team Billand, reporting an animal on the beach within the zone of the Marine Shooting Range in Ewa Beach. They managed to run into a Navy Police posse member who began trying to see if he could get them onto the range so as to ID the animal. Within milliseconds of Barbara's call I got another call from posse member Jen Christian, reporting that her husband, Jeff, who works at the Shooting Range, had called her to say that they had an animal on the beach. All the stars lined up perfectly and Jeff met the Billands and all proceeded to the animal, which, I'm happy to say , turned out to be Ewa Girl. She had last been seen, (by the Billands) at the Kalaeloa Campgrounds on 8-2-10. Thank You......very much to Jen, Jeff, and Officer Dulugo. Ya' Done Good !

This was D#42 for R5AY & Pup at Turtle Bay.

An email from Diane on Molokai brought new that Benny has returned to Molokai. He had been there all last week, and then came over to visit me for the weekend, and then apparently returned to Molokai. Thank you Diane !!
