3/19/2017 DB's Dailies: Kawena@Rabbit Island, Kaiwi@Kokee Flats, Kekoa,RIP&RW02@Maili,Kerby, Kolohe&RIP@Nanakai, U/U@CIP, RI37@Hauula

Arrived at Makai Pier at 0730 but it would be 0945 before a small critter hauled out of Seal Rock Inlet. It would move up and into the grass for a few hours, and then moved back down toward the inlet, all the while I could not get an ID. At the last possible second, at 1149 all the stars aligned and Kawena’s N36 bleach became readable. Seconds later she moved out of my line of sight behind the water front rocks. She would move up and into my line of sight again at 1230. She has been roaming the Maunalua Bay area for several days now, so it was nice to have her back at RI , at least for the day.

Billy, one of my SB lifeguard posse had called yesterday afternoon advising that he had “the smallest seal I’ve ever seen” fronting his LG stand, but it did not haul out, moving east. I thought at the time that it might be Kawena, and with today’s haul out back at RI, I’m thinkin’ it might have been her at SB yesterday but ????????

My much better half, Marilyn , was out in the SE quadrant today. (the one and only Mrs. Whisperer) She called at 0938 with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) once again at Irma’s Grotto, Kokee Flats. Melanie advised that she was still there on her afternoon check.

Team Billand checked in at 0620 with the report of Kerby (RW08) at Nanakai.

RIP stopped by briefly to check on Kerby but quickly departed, however at 0821 RIP (RR70) would return with Kolohe (RW22), and both hauled out to join Kerby. RIP would later relocate to Maili.

At 1015 the Billands reported Kekoa (RK72) an RW02 at Maili.

New posse member Andi B., send a shot of RI37 in Hauula today. Thank you Andi !

At 1253 they reported a foraging U/U off shore of Campbell Industrial Park. Awaiting further word.
