I met Lisa from Ocean Devotion Hawaii when I did a monk seal presentation for a group of girls scouts and brownies @ Lanikai elementary school. This group of girls are dedicated to learning and taking action. After learning about the monk seals Ocean Devotion organized a beach clean up at Kailua Beach Park. I stopped by to show my support and congratulated them on all their GREAT WORK..... Bravo!

3-31-2012 Late Entry KC @ MCBH
Thank you Karen Bryan for sending the photos of KC... She's looking good... wonder where she'll pup this year?
3-31-2012 DB's Dailies: Kaiwi@SB, Buster&Kolohe@RI, Duke@Molokai, R018@Maili Pt., RB00@Elec.Bch, Ka'ena,Kerby&761@KP, Rocky@MI
On my 3rd
look at Kaiwi Kove, at 0718 I found Kaiwi (RK96) on the beach, in the process of
galumphing to her Naupaka bush. A "permanent resident" derelict posse member
said she had arrived at around 0645 (15 minutes after my previous check). I got
her cordoned off and alerted the Elves. She has remained all day.
When I got back to Makai Pier
at 0838, it was just me and da' birds, however at 0906, Buster (RV08) hauled out
40 ft left of 1BS. He would remain all day.
At 0935, Kolohe (RW22) hauled
out to join Buster. They remained there together all day. There was minimal
interaction, all of which was initiated by Kolohe. Buster just didn't wanna'
play.
Diane
Pike called of Molokai at 0750 with exciting news, that she'd been sitting on
the lanai of a place she was house sitting,on a beach where seals are rarely if
ever seen , and who should swim by but DUKE (RA12) !! She called immediately.
Tanx Eh !!
Posse
member Ken Tingman did the Ka'ena Pt. trek today, and called to say that he'd
seen 3 critters, which would prove to be Ka'ena, Kerby & 761. Marilyn had
flat tire problems today, and was trapped at COSTCO. Hopefully, she'll get out
there tomorrow.
Team Billand had their Whale
Count hats on this morning, but called at 1427 with the report of R018 at Maili
Point.
At 1519
the Billands found RB00 at Electric Beach.
At 1523 Karen Bryan called to advise of an animal at
MCBH. When we talked she could see a CC scar, as she was just beginning to
assess the situation. I'm sure photos will be coming but I've received nothing
as of this writing. My dollar is on KC, but ??????
Dera called at 1530 to advise of an animal in the
trough at Magic Island . Dana later called to report that it was Rocky (RH58).
Confirming photos from Charles Lee, and Robert Keough have been received. Thanks
guys !

3-30-2012 DB's Dailies:
On
my first look at Rabbit Island I got just a quick glimpse of an animal hauling
out to Seal Rock Inlet, that I thought might be Kolohe. When I got back to Makai
Pier at 1134 I found Kolohe (RW22) now relocated to the left end rock flats of
RI. He was the only RI resident today. My RI shots were hideously poor today, so
I'll spare you.
On my 0918 check of Kaiwi
Kove I found Kaiwi (RK96), snoozin' on the rocks . I alerted the Elves, and
called the office. Sean and Michelle came out to look at Kaiwi's chest wound.
I'm happy to report that in 3 days the site is virtually healed up. There is
just the tiniest suggestion of what had been there on the 27th. Her right side
head ding also appears to be healing nicely. We got her cordoned off and she has
remained all day. Kaiwi departed at 1833. Tomorrow ????
At 0902 Team Billand
reported RIP (RR70) and Noa (R6FI) at Maili Point. R018 would join them at 1337.
At 0920 the Billands
reported 2AW at Pokai Bay. On there 1337 he was gone.
At 0958 they found Pohaku
(RO28) at Electric Beach. The Billands reported that RB00 joined her at 1448.
At 1015 Team Billand found
Kermit (R012) fronting #1707 at White Plains.
Dera called at 1033 to
report an animal at the Diamond Head showers. Colleen confirmed the Irma (R010)
ID at 1120.
Tracy did the Ka'ena Point
trek today. She reported Ka'ena (RO40), Kerby (RW08) and an U/F to be named
later.
Kaiwi's wound is healing very quickly
amazing how they heal so quickly
Irma @ Diamond Head
Aunty Colleen out looking after Irma
Kaiwi spent so much time in the water she's shriveled up like a prune
but not for long....
and there she goes...
