7/13/2018 Monk Seal Dailies (part 2) Lesley's Ka'ena Update

Tammy & my seal day started with RK40 "Napua" (F) D70 hauled out on the beach  a little further than 2 days ago. There was a fisherman near by so I went over to do the 1on1 with him. He mentioned that there had been a big seal playing with the small one in the water before it hauled out.
RK88 "Puna" (M) D76 was MIA.

we headed to the point, from far we saw several people at 10Mnts Beach and a very well known shape on the sand. HMAR SM Nico was there, as soon as I IDed R330 Squinty I told Nico who he was.
Tammy & I had a long wait to ID a seal in the Main Pool. On one of her first shots it seemed to have something like a line from mouth to neck. Tide was high waves were flowing into the pool and Ka'ena was doing the hippo. We had to wait 3 to 5 minutes for him to come up to breathe. MANY pics were taken he is totally clear there's nothing there.

On our way back we found RK88 "Puna" hauled out at the PlayPen and RK40 "Napua" down the beach, where she was this morning.

While we were out, we were told RG40 "Holokai" was @ CE near campers. I checked in - the information was crisscrossed, possibly a misunderstanding of the called in RK40 "Napua x RG40 "Holokai". "Holokai" was NOT seen / documented today.  More tomorrow 🌺
