6/6/2018 Monk Seal Dailies:

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.  I didn't get a chance to head out to the pier today but will check tomorrow. On an interesting note according to Holokai's satellite signal he left Rabbit Island today and is on the move.

Team Billand was at the outfall by 5:30 this morning. When they arrived they spotted a critter come in, make a dive and then sped out to sea to the right of the jetty. It came back to the front of the outfall and took off again only this time was moving at warp speed. No ID could be made, and there wasn't a clear picture to be had. This critter was small, swam fast, not into the outfall just in front, pretty much very different behavior than the usual cast of character. This critter reported as a U/U.

At 5:50 am Team Billand spotted Kaale RH32 coming in along the jetty to the outfall. There was some blue foam, flat container that caught Kaale's attention. He was biting it, tossing it, plays a little more and then bites it again. He dove down, in the middle of the outfall and then he was gone.

Team Billand left the outfall and headed over to one of the Leeward beaches close by. Upon arriving they see RN14 Kalani on the rocks snoozing alone. He must have here a bit since he is nice and dry.
And then there is another critter coming in and greets RN14,  it's ...... Ka'ale RH32 (butt head).

He came in slowly, looking and spots RN14 on the rocks sleeping, RN14 awakens and in his excitement decides to immediately dive into the shallows with Ka'ale.  They played for quite a long time, that Team Billand decided to go have breakfast and come back.  At 8:30 when they returned both were gone.

Team Billand took a walk to Ka'ena West and came up empty. On there way in they met up with one of our old posse pals Vera and her son Arek !  (Blast from the past) That had to feel good.

Team Billand left and headed back to Leeward Beach to check if the boys were back. Yep, they were both there Ka'ale and Kalani were on the rocks snoozing. The tide was rising, hitting both seals, but they remained.

Their last find of the day was Pohaku RO28, doing 8 to 10 minute dives. They spotted a large, fat seal with large cookie cutter scar on left side. They waited but she never hauled out.  Hopefully she hauls out somewhere safe and away from the crowds.
