6/10/2018 Yesterday's News: Lesley's Ka'ena Update.

So the so awaited day arrived.... cousins re-met.
When down early and searched for PO4 "Puna" D42 for 30 minutes.
I finally walked to the second play pen and there he was coming into to the shoreline. On the opposite side of the beach RL42 "Leia" & PO5 "Napua" D36 were in the shallow waters.
"Leia" swam towards deeper waters and "Napua" stayed back in her favorite cove. "Puna" made his way towards her. The encounter happened, my heart was beating so fast. They nuzzled each other and rolled over, back and forth.
"Leia" was vocalizing calling PO5 "Napua", when she realized she wasn't going to come, she surfed the big waves back in. The three were together for a while, mom barking, "Napua" ignoring or putting herself between Puna" and her mom. Finally "Leia" said something that made little "Puna" flipper away at a fast speed. He kept coming back and tried to hang around, but kept and eye on big aunty.
"Leia" & "Napua" hauled out and a nursing session started.
I did all the calls that had to be done.
It's a big shame that none of the hard core volunteers that have been monitoring these pups were there to be part of our so  awaited day. I have tons of photos to share with you and had you all in my mind and heart.

I headed out to the point saw RW02 "PVKauai" at 10 Mnts Beach and RO40 "Ka'ena" in his pool - calls were made to the hotline.
There were MANY people out hiking and a lot of outreach was made.

Oh they are too cute together
Oh oh here come's Momma
 Puna PO4
