6/25/2018 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 1)

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley was having internet problems and wasn't able to upload any photos. I can empathize with that problem... so I look forward to the photos tomorrow, but today I posted her written update in part two of the dailies.

Team Billand headed out to the outfall and found RH32 Ka'ale foraging like crazy. They watched in amazement as this little dude foraged in the outfall area. He was jamming along, fish after fish. Even the fishermen were amazed by him, saying "Whoa good fisherman".  ( this truly brings a smile to my face since there is so much negative press between the fishermen and seals. this is one of those moments that gives me hope that there is plenty for all.)

At one time, he was in the right corner trying to catch something, caught it, tossed it about, then ripped it and swallowed it up.  Then they noticed big splashes and a second seal. Ka'ale went after it, they have no idea who the 2nd seal was as it took off. They lost site of Ka'ale and left the area.
Team Billand returned after 10 and Ka'ale was in the shallows sleeping soundly by the rocks.

While checking Nanakuli Beach park looking for seals, there were none, but there were dolphins and there were very close to shore, jumping, swimming and spinning.  People came to the waters edge, calling out to the dolphins by making sea lion sounds.  LOL oh well, what do they know?

Team Billand's next find out on the West Side, they spotted a good sized seal, on his back tags showing. It was Kalani RN14, N14, he was alone. They stood checking for any others around but it was just Kalani.  On passing the area on their next visit they spotted another seal galumphing up on the rocks. Unfortunately Team Billand had to take care of some personal business and unable to stop at that time.
When they went back later and there were no seals in the area.
