5-20-2014 DB's Dailies: Pua,Aukai & M38@RI, Kaiwi@CW, M&M@WP, Haupu@Maili, U/U@Mokes, U/U@Kaimana

Pua (RF34) was galumphing around out on the left end rock flats of Rabbit Island when I did my first look from Makai Pier. When I got back at 0900 she had gone to snooze mode at the same location. She would enter the water at 1025.

 On a routine pan at 0941 I found what would prove to be Aukai (RL12) at the mid Middle Cliff area of RI.

 At 0954 the “swimming head” I’d been following for some minutes, hauled out to Aukai for a quick look. It was M38. He stayed briefly before returning to the water.

 At 1046 Gayle called with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) at China Walls. I confirmed the ID at 1100. Thank You Gayle !!!

 On my 1500 RI check Pua and M38 were on the left end flats, and Aukai remained at Middle Cliff. The 1700 check was the same. No sign of Temp401 today.

 At 0913 Team Billand reported M&M (R020) foraging out by her buoy. She would haul out to the showers at White Plains at 0915. They advised that M&M entered the water at 1845, and after a little buoy play departed at 1911.

 At 1236 the Billands reported Haupu (RB24) at Nanakai Beach, Maili.

 Morning email from Colleen brought word of and animal hauling out to Kaimana Beach, last night around 1920. Her email was the first I had heard of the haul out . Colleen checked at 0730 and the animal was gone. Rocky has to be at the top of the “possibles” list, but ??????

 THE Donna called at 1745 to advise that there had been an animal on Moku Nui today. There was no other info, and the photo provided was impossible.

 The Billands are runnin’ late. Check the blog in the morning for their day.
