10-12-11 DB Dailies

Despite both a morning and afternoon circuit of the SE Quadrant the only animal seen out this way was Kaiwi (RK96) at AD. When we arrived at 0600, Kaiwi was lolling in her nook, 300 yds east of the AD wall. At 0648 she moved out into the shallows and explored the area, 50 ft to the west and 50 ft to the east, according to Alice.

When I got back to AD at 0942 she was back in her nook. At 1038 she began exploring to the east, but only venturing about 30 ft east. At 1047 she hauled out to the water front rocks at that location went to snooze mode. When Gayle releived me the kid was still zonked. According to Gayle's notes Kaiwi went back in the shallows at 1447 but stayed in the immediate area. She hauled out and moved up to the vegetation line, according to Zeenat at 1532.

When we arrived this evening to breakdown the site, Zeenat and Brenda "Yoda" Becker, both confirmed that another seal had done a swim through and investigated the flats in the old SPZ area at 1739, and then departed. All of our dollars are on Benny, and Yoda said she saw bilateral facial scars. Awaiting Zeenat's video for confirmation. You might want to check YouTube this evening to see for yourself.

Dana called at 1109 with the report of both R5AY and La'akea fronting the Turtle Bay stables. Hopefully, there will be confirming photos coming.

Team Billand reported Ewa Girl (RS00) at "Al's Bench", Kalaeloa Campgrounds, at 1322.
