10-12-11 DB Dailes

At 0600 we found Kaiwi (RK96) lolling in her nook, 300 yds east of the AD wall. She was still in that area when I relieved by Ann. In looking at today's log entries it appears that Kaiwi hauled out to the water front rocks on Gayle's shift, and snoozed away the day on Karen and Jean & Jerry's shifts, only waking up just before 1800 and entering the water. She was lolling in her nook at end of day. June provided excellent Kaiwi shots today.

At 0855 I found what would prove to be Buster (RV08) doing 6 minute dives at Blowhole.

Dana called at 1014 to advise that Joy Silver had reported Right Spot and La'akea at Right Spot's spot, Turtle Bay. Apparently, Right Spot barked at La'akea when she hauled out near her. Both entered the water and more words were exchanged. I think I understood Dana to say that they later hauled out to separate locations.

Team Billand called at 1215 to advise that they had recieved word from Dana about an animal at Wind Sock, and another at NIM. At 1350 the Billands reported that nobody was at Wind Sock, but a fisherman told them there had been two there, in the water, but they had not hauled out.

The Billands reported that Benny (RE74) was just hauling out to Kermit's Reef, on the west side of the Nimitz Jetty. He stayed there until washed off the reef, and then began a swim headed east, passing Nimitz Cottages, Wind Sock, a brief haul out to Al's Bench in Kalaeloa Campgrounds, and then they lost him at 1445. The gave up the search and went home, but no sooner arrived that Dera called at 1717 with word of an U/U animal newly hauled out to White Plains. They headed out but another call from Dera at 1724 advised that the animal had departed. Who ????

Benny's appearance at Kermit's Reef is significant because yesterday at around 1730

Zeenat got video of him looking for Irma at AD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bH3yySUGKiM&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL If you look closely his left and right facial scars are visible in her footage. The boy definitely gets around.
