A Call for PHOTOS

Aloha Good People...

During the conference in Hilo I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Doug Perrine. Doug has a special request for high resolution photos of any seals that have been hooked, or caught in a net, or a photo of what a seal bite looks like on a human. These photos would be used to make a poster that would be sold in the gift shops at our national parks (I assume by the sea shore).  Doug is trying to put this together quickly to get approval.... he will credit you at the photographer and follow the NOAA/NMFS permit guidelines and even offered to send some of the proceeds to HMSRTO.

Please feel free to contact me or email Doug directly at perrine@hawaii.rr.com .

Mahalo!

I am curious as to who would purchase a poster of a hooked or entangled monk seal ????

Well thats a very good question, and unfortunately I don't have an answer...

What it DOES do is educate people as to what these animals have to deal with on the main hawaiian islands... We get very use to seeing the cuteness.... and sadly there has been too many losses...

Maybe they won't sell... but I think the images will make a very loud statement...

Maybe it is kind of like the MADD campaigns...you show the wreck ? Or the teen pregnancy posters ?
Maybe we should ask ?
