At 0643, from the Makapuu Overview I could see Ewa Girl & pup at the left end of the beach, on Rabbit Island. When I got down to Makai Pier at 0652 I found that EG was just barely visible from that angle. When I got back to the pier at 0900 they had moved down near the water line and were fully visible. Buster was also in the area. Though he appeared close, the foreshortening effect of the telephoto lens made him appear closer than he actually was. Mom was not concerned about his presence, and that it the only important thing. Buster would depart at 1000 , of his own volition. I did not see him again today.
I observed 4 feed, and lots of snoozin', but the kid was still active when not eating or sleeping. The most notable thing about today was the increase in communication. Yesterday and this morning, Ewa Girl didn't even open her mouth unless it was to warn off other animals . Beginning with a move up with the rising tide at 1400, there was a definite increase in her "talking" to the pup.
Team Billand called at 0710 with the report of Irma at Wind Sock, Kalaeloa Beach, and again at 0805 reporting 4DF near the Oneula Place access (187A), in Ewa Beach.
