1/7/2010 DB Dailies

The Rabbit Island cast was all in place when I got my 2nd look at 0937. Mikala was at the left end, and fully visible. What would prove to be Sadie was tucked into the base of the cliff 40 ft left of 1BS. She would later move down, allowing the ID. Duke began the day up in the high grass at the right end of the beach. He too would later move down to cool off. All three remained there all day.

Once again, after many, many miles driven, Right Spot was a no show in the game today.

Team Billand had an interesting, and unusual day. The first call was routine, reporting Kermit at Nimitz Beach at 1004. They later called with the 2nd hand report of 2AW at Makaha.

Things got unusual with a call from Barbara around 1151. She had been attempting to deal with a blue , 55 gal. drum in the shorebreak at Kalaeloa Campgrounds, near "Al's Bench". I suggested that she call the Navy cops which she did. Lo and Behold it was to turn into a full blown HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) Incident, with the Coast Guard, Fire Department and Police all responding. Barbara was kept on scene for quite awhile before finally being let go. They still have not determined what was in the sealed drum.

As if that weren't exciting enough, Barbara later called to report that they had discovered the young female, RI37 at Maili Point, Barbara was out on the reef in big waves, getting "the shot", with Robert yelling warnings as larger sets approached. They have Whale stuff to do tonight, so Barbara will be send the RI37 shots to da' blog tonight.
