Happy Thanksgiving !! I hope this finds all, fat and happy !

 Sandy Beach was Monk Seal free at 0600. I got to the Blowhole Lookout at 0627, and at 0654 became aware of Kea (RN46) doing 5 minute dives . I saw 2 ups before losing him.

 On my first look at Rabbit Island at 0745 I found RK36, 80 ft left of 1BS, and RM38, 40 ft left of 1BS. When I got back for my 2nd look at 0929 the cast had increased by a group of 3, fronting the 1BS. They were Kolohe (RW22), Duke (RA12) & Aukai (RL12).

 Melanie called at 1114 with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) at China Walls. Thank You Melanie !!!

 At 1128 I got a call from an HPD posse member , reporting an animal at Eternity Beach. When I arrived at 1134 I found Kea (RN46) foraging long the west side ledge. According to officers there had been no attempt to haul out. I lost him at 1155.

When I’d gotten the ETB call I’d been sitting at the SB outfall for some time. After the ETB call I returned to the outfall at 1205. At 1249 Kea (RN46) came swimming in from the west and hauled out to the outfall. I cordoned him off. At 1630 Kathy S., delivered a “meals on wheels”, Thanksgiving dinner to a senior citizen whose wife is on the mainland, and brought news that Kea was now up at the Naupaka. Gayle checked in at 1640 with the same news. Thanks guys !!!! Kea remained at dark. 

Team Billand called at 0700 to advise that their posse member , Rich, had called to advise that he had cordoned off Makaiwi (R4DF), fronting Tower#1, White Plains.

 At 0824 the Billands advised that Buster (RV08) had hauled out to join Makaiwi, at WP. They would depart at 1741.

 Ocean Safety called at 0934 with the report of an animal at Sunset Beach , on the North Shore. Dana called at 1135 to advise that Joy Silver had confirmed the Right Spot (R016) by her right side NB.

 At 0928 the Billands reported that Eileen had called advising of U’ilani (RN36) at the Reef Runway. 

In the Yesterday’s News department, photos from Karen Rohter and an unknown send arrived showing Rocky’s (RH58) stay at Kaimana Beach, 11-26-14.

Since Kea departed last night, it was not surprising that Sandy Beach was Monk Seal free this morning on my 0620 check. More later.

 On my first look at Rabbit Island at 0717 I found 5 critters. They would prove to be a 15% molted , RK36, 110 ft left of 1BS, Duke (RA12)& the U/U that has been driving me crazy for some days now, 60 ft left of 1BS,( At 1233 it would finally become RM38),and Aukai (RL12)&Kolohe(RW22), 20 ft right of 1BS.

 When I got back to Makai Pier at 0927 I found a new member of the cast at Rocky Right Beach. Sadly, I was never able to ID the animal, due to it’s hiding behind the water front rocks for the majority of the day. It appeared to be a juvenile sized animal with a new coat, and 2 red tags, but that was the best I could do. Maybe tomorrow ????

 At 1102 on a routine check of SB, I found Kea (RN46) on the outfall at Sandy Beach, and cordoned him off. Gayle advised that Kea departed at 1800.

 At 0649 Team Billand reported Makaiwi (R4DF) between the fence line & T#1. Thank you Rich for cordoning her off.

 At 0847 the Billands reported Haupu (RB24) fronting the Surf Shack, White Plains.

 At 1322 they checked in again to advise of Pohaku (RO28) at Maili Point.

 Ocean Safety called at 1627 with the report of an animal at Kaimana Beach. At 1711 Ruth reported that she thought it was Rocky. Awaiting photos.  

The Billands called at 1800 to report the arrival of Buster (RV08) to join Haupu at White Plains. Both would depart at 1830.  

Also at 1830 the Billands advised that Debbie had called with the report of an animal at Makaha Surfside Condo. No further info.

 The Billands just called to say that they are stuck in traffic, which is going nowhere, so check the blog in the morning for their day.

When I arrived at Sandy Beach, at 0610 Kea was gone.

 On my 2nd look at Rabbit Island, at 0913 I found a gang of 4 hangin’ out in the Morning Glory, left of 1BS. They would prove to be Kolohe (RW22), RK36, 15% molted, Aukai (RL12), and the same U/M, that has been eluding ID for a few days now. It is an adult sized , male animal with an old coat, and at least 1 red tag. Though he was quite visible today, the heat distortion caused by the cold North winds, made it difficult to see markers. All would move down independently.

 At 1038 Duke (RA12) arrived on the scene, and brought chaos to the quiet group. He managed to get in the face of all the rest of the boys, as each would vie for prime location next to Aukai. While he had words with one, another would sneak nearer to Aukai. Ultimately Duke and Kolohe would be the prime contenders, and Aukai would enter the water with the 2 males close behind at 1117. At 1136 all 3 would haul out right of 1BS. Since Kolohe was 40 ft right of the other 2, I’m guessin’ Duke was da’ winna’!

 Gayle called at 1144 to advise that Kea (RN46) was just hauling out to the Sandy Beach outfall. She already had the SPZ well underway when I arrived. Gayle called at 1818 to advise that Kea had departed.

 At 0710 Team Billand called to advise that there posse member Rich had reported an animal at the fence line at White Plains, and cordoned it off. The Billands would confirm the Makaiwi (R4DF) ID at 0733.

 Also at 0710 they reported getting a call from their posse member John , reporting an animal foraging off of Nimitz Jetty. They would confirm the Haupu (RB24) ID, at 0809, as she foraged off shore of #1806 Nimitz Cottages. At 1044 they would report her hauling out near the Surf Shack at White Plains.

 Ocean Safety called at 1145 to advise of an animal at Yokes. The Billands confirmed the Benny (RE74) ID at 1345.

 I got a call from Keone, whom the Maili BP life guards had given my number. He was reporting an animal in the channel at “Green Lantern’s”, at the west end of Maili BP. He thought it might have something in it’s mouth, but that was a very vague possibility. I notified the Billands and they responded, checking the channel as well as Maili BP, and the west side of the channel, but they found nothing. The hunt continued. At 1533 they called to advise that they had checked the coast line east and west but had found nothing. There is a possibility that volunteer Tiffany may have gotten shots. Awaiting further word.
