Pohaku at Paradise Cove
Kekoa at Maili Point
 Ka'ale at 20 min beach
 RW02 at 20 minute beach

10/2/2016 DB's Dailies: Kawena,RG32&J/F @ Rabbit Island, Buster @ Sandy Beach, Pohaku@Paradise Cove, Kekoa@Maili Point, Ka'ale & RW02@20 MIN

At 0722 I found RG32 snoozin’ in the grass behind Seal Rock Inlet. He would later move down for the day, showing me his 60% molt.

Also at 0722 I found the same J/F Unknown that has been there fronting 1BS for several day. Still no confirmed ID but hopefully the NOAA gang will go out again this week. Cass is a distinct possibility an she needs her vaccination.

I’d been constantly panning the island in hopes of finding Kawena (RH36) again, and at 1110 on one of those pans, there she was, just moving up into view from behind the Rocky Right Beach rocks.

She could very easily been there all along and out of my line of sight, or maybe she hauled out. Only Kawena knows. I’m very happy to say that her large, left side “NE6" (N36) bleach was clearly visible , and readable. Unfortunately, it can barely be seen in the photos.

Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) on the rocks between Paradise Cove & Lani’s this morning at 0613. At 0930 they found Kekoa (RK72) , once again at Maili Point.

At 1115 came Barbara’s call reporting Ka’ale (RH32) & RW02 at the 20 Min mark on the west side KP trail.

Marilyn & I responded to Sandy Beach at 1719. She had received a call about an animal there. As it turned out it was Crappy Cove (SB), and it was Buster (RV08).

Team Billand kept getting failures when attempting to send me their day, so no luck for tonight. Their info and shots have been sent to Donna so hopefully, you read all about their day on the blog in the morning.

HMMA Update from October 1st

At 0654 a report came in about a seal hauled out between the Colony Surf and Outrigger Canoe Club. The seal was believed to be Kaiwi (RK96). Melissa responded and confirmed the Kaiwi ID. Gina was on watch and checked in at 1137 to report Kaiwi went back into the water. Marilyn checked in at 1013 from Kaena Point to report Ka'ale (RH32) and Luana (RN58) on the Waianae side about a 20 min. from Yokohama Beach. Marilyn checked in at 1142 with a report of Kaena (RO40) at BG's Pool about 1/4 of a mile from Kaena Point on the Mokuleia side. At 1433 Don checked in with a report of Holokai (RG40) at Kuilima Cove. Chrissy was there as well and sent in a photo of a very green Holokai. Don and Ken checked in at 1549 with a report of Lei Ola (RH48) also at Turtle Bay.

10/1/2016 DB's Dailies: Aukai, J/F, Kawena, RG32& Kea @ Rabbit Island, Pohaku @ CIP, Kaiwi @ OCC, Kekoa@Maili Point, Ka'ale, Luana &RK36@20MIN, Ka'ena@ Ka'ena Point,

When I arrived at the pier at 0758 I found Aukai (RL12) & the same Unknown J/F as yesterday , fronting 1BS on Rabbit Island. The J/F would depart at 1016.

At his usual Seal Rock Inlet spot of the last several days I found a 40% molted RG32.

On a pan at 0827 I found a new arrival to the Left Middle Cliff area of RI. Though I suspect immediately, it would take a while to finally see a smudge on the right shoulder which I presume was the N36 bleach.

Team Billand checked in at 0653 with the report of a foraging Pohaku (RO28) doing 5-6 minute dives.

A Karen Rohter text at 0839 advised that Kaiwi (RK96) was once again at Outrigger.  An 1115 email from Gina Walker brought the same news, and a photo.

At 0842 Team Billand reported Kekoa (RK72) once again at Maili Point.

Marilyn & Lesley did their usual End of the World trek from the Mokuleia side and found nobody on the trip. They decided to continued on to check the Waianae side trail.

Barbara began her trek from the west side and they all met up at th 20 min mark where they spent quality time with Ka’ale (RH32)&Luana (RN58). They all went back to the point and there found Ka’ena (RO40) at Ka’ena’s Pool. When Barbara headed back on the west side trail she found that RK36 had now joined Luana. Ka’ale remained away from the other two.

On another pan at 1044 I found a 1005 molted Kea (RN46) on the left end rock flats . He would later relocate to a spot 100 ft east of 3BS.
