8/8/2013 DB's Dailies: Irma&Kea(D#35)@AD, Duke&Kainoa@RI, Pohaku@Secrets, M&M,Buster@KCG, Ewa Girl&U'ilani@RR

At 0600 we found Irma & Kea (R010)(D#35) 20 ft from the upper fence line, and 150 ft west of the east end of the SPZ. They were in snooze mode, but began a feed at 0634. We found, extinguished and buried a fire pit, 3 ft from the fence, near out base supply storage area. It is a continuing problem at that location. According to the log, there were 3 water sessions, only one of which was out of the tide pools. There were 6 feeds and the pup seemingly grows right before your eyes.

At 0818, from the Makapuu Overview I found what would prove to be Kainoa (RN04) at Rocky Right Beach on Rabbit Island. He was fully visible from the Makapuu site, but only partially so from Makai Pier.

From Makai Pier at 0828 I found what would prove to be Duke (RA12) high on the beach. He would move down and out of my line of sight at 0911.

Jack (at the Bay) called at 0935 with a report of a swim through critter at Hanauma Bay just prior to his call. There was no other info other than it had come inside the reef through the cable channel, swum the inside and exited through the cable channel. I’ve been waiting for another sighting all day, but ?????????

Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) at Secret Beach a 0659.

At 0847 they reported M&M (R020) at Kalaeloa Campgrounds.

Team Billand checked in at 1331 to advise that Ewa Girl (RS00) was their only find at the Reef Runway today.

Also at 1331 they reported that now Buster (RV08) was with M&M at KCG.

The Billands reported that Eileen had called to advise that she had found U’ilani at the Reef Runway at 1500.
I think DB got really excited about this dive footage because there weren't any photos of mom&pup attached to his email. I got the shots from Team Billand and Ko'Olina Diane sent a couple of Pohaku.  The youtube footage is fantastic!!!
A check of YouTube this evening brought a piece of footage we Oahu guys will appreciate

It is footage of  a dive off Niihau (from Kauai). The second piece of Monk Seal footage (the kiss), is none other than our boy Kermit !!!!

Buster and MM
These boyz are really something, they been cruising the gals forever.
 Pohaku at Secrets
ahhh finally some peace alone and no two legged people either!
