7-4-2013 DB's Dailies!!! BIG NEWS!Kainoa@RI, Kolohe@SC, Irma&Pup@AD's, Buster&Weaner@RR, Benny&Pohaku@PC

At 0649 Kimo called with the report of what would prove to be Kolohe (RW22) at Spitting Cave, doing 13 to 23 min. dives.

On my 2nd look at Rabbit Island at 0900 I found Kainoa (RN04) fronting Right Middle Cliff.

A call from Tatiana at 0922 put the day on a whole ‘nother level. She had gotten a call reporting a Mom & Pup at AD’s at 0922. When I arrived at 0936 I found Thomas Engles & wife, along with Irma & Pup, 300 yds east of the AD’s wall. This is basically the same location as her 2011 birth. I got up a temporary cordoned and alerted the troops. Tatiana & Cianna arrive with the cavalry at 1100 and we established at full blown Pup perimeter. Irma and pup appear well. By the size and condition of the pup I’d say last night or wee hours this morning for the birth. Thank you to all who showed up today. My minds a blur, but I mos definitely appreciate your responses .

At 1038 Team Billand called from the Reef Runway to advise that Ewa Girl (RS00) had weaned her pup. The pup and Buster (RV08) were at the RR site. A weaner and birth on the same day... July 4th no less!

At 1310 the Billands called again with the report of Benny (RE74) and Pohaku (RO28) at Paradise Cove.

So yesterday DB referred to Irma and said OIK (only Irma knows)... today Gayle and I decided DBDK (DB doesn't know)  :-)

Irma and Pup WOW! Look at that bleach mark!!!!
We'll be able to tell this kid from a mile away with that flipper tip!
Buster visiting the weaner... or was he looking for Ewa Girl
Wonder if this little girl understands what has happened
 Be gentle there Buster
 HOLY COW!!!!
 Benny woooing Miss Pohaku
enjoying a day at the beach

Good thing Irma made it to AD's to give birth.

I mean when you think about it, a truck ran through Waikiki Beach, A SEMI!!!! She was just around there wasnt she?

And then, the fourth of July, she gives birth at AD's, when she was JUST IN WAIKIKI?????

So we got to count our blessings, Irma made it to, AD's.

The photos are lovely, the pup's bleach, AWESOME!!! Almost as if she or he dumped its foreflipper in WHITE PAINT. Kind of like a cross between...ROCKY and Chester huh? Interesting.

The person who found IRMA...LUCKY GUY...that must have been a BIG SURPRISE...how come none of us get those days...FINDING A NEW BORN??? NO WAIT, Diane and Karen saw THE BIRTHING...HOW COOL IS THAT???? Something I would never forget in my LIFETIME. And to have video???? Awesome.

Well, so the munchkin has arrived, SURPRISE!!!!! And on a day of JULY 4TH!!!! What timing MISS IRMA.

Now, about the two at KoOlina, Paradise Cove...THAT WAS A ZOO at the site as well. Its a small beach, but there were tons of people, floating devices, the turtles were roaming in the cove, kids at the turtles, plastic on shore and in the water...people IN FRONT OF THE TWO SEALS...the perimeter was very small. THAT WAS SHOCKING...we made it larger right away, got folks to understand, THIS MALE IS AFTER THE FEMALE, HE CAN AND WILL BITE IF ANYONE gets in his way. Everyone moved for us, like three times, there were no complaints, they all understood. Thanks all...

Benny was clearly annoyed by all the people, he kept looking, posturing, snorting. Miss Pohaku looking thin, but better...just cant escape from the HORNY TOAD, THE BENNY.

Glad Diane and Linda came out to help and whoever else was there...THANK YOU guys.

Ok, now we got to get through the next three days of Crowded beaches, good luck to all.

Thank you to EVERYONE who came through tomorrow for Irma and all the critters. LOVE that bleach mark. I think we are all in agreement this will be one easy ID in the future. Congrats to all the loving and caring people who look after these beloved creatures. I'm off to TMMC and will miss you all. Hopefully there will be some good stories to share from Sausalito. Be kind to Karen Banes, this is her first time to fill in for me.

Mahalo,
Dana
