2-23-2012 DB's Dailies:Irma,RIP&Kaiwi@Spitting Cave, R5AY@Malaekahana, Makaiwi@KoOlina, Benny@Makaha, Rocky@Elk's Club, 2AW@Guard Rails, Noa@Maili Poin, Kekoa@RR

I was batting zero until I arrived at Spitting Cave at 0746. Gayle and I began the SC watch, and at 0754 found what would prove to be Irma (R010) doing 12 minute dives.

At 0934 RIP (RR70) appeared and he began foraging in close proximity to Irma, but there was never any observed interaction .

Zeeny called at 1116 to advise that Kaiwi (RK96) had arrived at Spitting Cave, and that she and RIP were interaction. At 1150 RIP and Kaiwi would move further into Maunalua Bay. At 1240 RIP returned to SC, according to posse member Kathy.

Posse member Teri called at 1731 to advise that Kaiwi was back and doing dives near the ladder at the point at Spitting Cave.

For those of you on the other side of the computer screen, who can't tell the players without a program, this day's Spitting Cave cast is about as Warm & Fuzzy as you can get. Irma is Mom to her first born son, RIP (2003),and to her last born, her daughter Kaiwi (2011). If Mojo and Ka'ena had shown up today (her #2 & #3), I would have immediately retired. Oh hell no! Besides, I think you would be beaming like a very proud papa. You're going to have to wait until Kaiwi has her pups... to be grandpapa!

At 0940 Dera called to report R5AY at Malaekahana . ID was by tag.

At 1030 Team Billand checked in with the report of Makaiwi (R4DF), at Lagoon #4 at KoOlina.

At 1120 the Billands reported that they had received word from Secret Beach, KoOlina that a small animal had hauled out , but was run off before they could get there.

At 1120 the Billands reported the report of an animal at Makaha. At 1212 they confirmed the Benny (RE74) ID.
Dera called at 1051 with the report of an animal behind the Elk's Club, Waikiki. Posse member Colleen confirmed the Rocky (RH58) ID at 1406.

At 1313 Team Billand reported 2AW at Guard Rails Beach.

At 1340 the Billands found Noa (R6FI).

Dera called at 1448 to report that posse member Eileen had reported Kekoa (RK72 ) at the Reef Runway. Though his transmitter is still attached, it apparently no longer working, according to Dera.
Irma (Mom) and RIP (oldest offspring)
RIP (older brother) and Kaiwi (little sister)

Makaiwi got spooked off of KoOlna Lagoon four, due to a female swimmer who got within 10 feet of her. We all tried to get the swimmers attention, but it was way too late. Makaiwi was posturing, the lady kept going up to her. We were frantically waving and yelling, but the lady didnt hear. Makaiwi went in the water after her magnificent posturing...and of course due to my stupid waving, missed the awesome shot. Then Makaiwi went to the floaters and dived deep, was gone for the day. God bless her. Thanks to Zach, Rich and some people on the beach for their help.

No I dont think the little seal was NOA, too far from the spot. I do think it would have been POHAKU as she been showing up at Secret Beach alot lately. That beach should be renamed to SEAL beach as it aint no SECRET no more. Lots of folks go there to snorkle, swim, bask, and our seal gets disturbed.

I was thrilled to find NOA, hadnt seen him so long since he has called Kaena Pt his new hang out. He is huge, robust, so handsome..I was in awe of growth.

And as of 10:20pm last night, Rob and I became Grandparents for the first time!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh, what an exciting event. I cant wait to see...Little Olivia. Life is so full of extraordinary events...we are in HEAVEN!!!!!
