At 0715 I
found RIP (RR70) and Buster (RV08) amongst the Morning Glory, 40 ft left of 1BS
on Rabbit Island. I would make those IDs 3+ hours later , when they each began to
move down to cool off on separate schedules. To my complete and utter surprise,
a little head popped up from behind the dune they had all be snoozin' on. It
would prove to be Nani (RK60). At no time had I ever had a clue that she was
there. All three spent time in close quarters, on the beach front, but at 1231
Nani moved to the water, and RIP followed. Buster lazily observed their
departure, and went back to sleep.
I found Colleen mail this
morning , reporting that Irma had apparently been at Diamond Head yesterday,to
the surprise of everybody. Armed with that factoid I ventured out this morning
with the prospects of Irma being in the area. Sure enough on my 0815 Kokee Flats
check I found Irma doing her best hippo imitation, mostly submerged in the tide
pool at Irma's Grotto.
At 0926
Dana called with a report of RI37 at Mokuleia. Shortly thereafter, at 0937 posse
member Kelly Evans called verifying the RI37 ID, and advising that the location
was directly across from the Dillingham Airfield. She also advised that John
Mossman had found her at 0759.
At 0931
Team Billand called to report Kermit (R012) in the Nimitz Jetty area, foraging
and trying to find a place without people (and dogs) to haul out. Finally, at
0946 he successfully hauled out fronting #1813 pavilion, Nimitz Cottages.
Dana called at 1849 about an animal (or two) at Pokai
Bay. A photo by Marisa DeMarco was recieved but is inconclusive, so an U/U is
required. Maybe tomorrow ?
