2-20-2012 Kermit and Benny at White Plains

Looks like it was an extremely busy holiday Monday at White Plains. Team Billand and the Cober Clan responded and dealt with the crowds.... also got to see the boyz being boyz... Kermit and Benny having their usual posturing.

Sometimes if volunteers want to know what to do.... guarantee you can head over to white plains on a holiday weekend and help out..... !

Benny RE74
hmmmm wonder if there's anything going on?
 Benny passing by some swimmers...
 Crazy crowded white plains
 Kermit 4DG
 Peacefully snoozing
 Until the boyz meet up
I tell you Irma is mine!  She's all mine!
Forgetaboutit!  She's mine and you know it!
 Where is she anyway?
 I don't know, boy am I tired
Okay we can discuss this later...

From early morning we knew we were in for another crazy, tuff Holiday with White Plains crowds. If any one needs to find out how bad it can get with humans and seals, Plains is the place to be. Of course you got the nice folks out there who care about the seals, respect them, goes AROUND the zones put up. BUT, THEN, YOU GOT THOSE THAT DONT GIVE A RATS ASS..and swim in front of seals, yell at them, make seal lion noises, clap their hands, pull on the ropes, throw stuff at the seals etc. It aint an easy job, it is annoying, frustrating, insane, packed with wall to wall people. There are footballs tossed, soccer balls kicked, children unattended, entering zones, giving us a heart attack. There are folks who think they can and will walk up to a seal for a photo..not believing a seal could bite them. NAH, not those lazy fat seals, all they do is sleep and be lazy. Well, seals sleep all day for a reason, people always disturbing them, wanting a cutesie shot for YOUTUBE. So idots like us, stand there, guarding our precious seals, trying to educate all who come by , praying all will heed to our pleas...Leave the poor seals alone to rest. SIMPLE HUH??? NOPE...
I want to thank Vera Cober who watched the seals and got to see the Fight with Benny and Kermit. Thank the lifeguards for helping to set up a new zone for THE BENNY.
To Jim Brown who never understands, why folks have to pass in front, have to swim RIGHT IN THE SEAL AREA, Got to enter the water RIGHT WHERE THE SEAL IS..no other way.
To the Base Police talking to the folks on shore, asking all to stay away from the seals at all times.
Its hard, hot dirty work for a volunteer to protect a seal at Plains...but someone gots to do this..we got to stick up for our seals, they deserve to rest on THEIR BEACH. After all, they are protected by state and federal law, endangered species act...RIGHT????
I dont know how we all did it, but we got through, yet another, THREE DAY WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!

I love the shot of the boyz, absolutely amazing to see that kind of interaction. Makes the girl seals look lazy here on the North Shore. Nice story! As a volunteer the suffering is worth every minute:) Exhausting but worth it! Truely amazing what goes on out there! Another great seal day in paradise:)
