DB Post Tuesday 12.08.09

At 0702 I found a 90% molted Right Spot, at 2BS on Rabbit Island. Later in the morning I found Mikala at 1BS at 1035, and at 1154 Buster hauled out to 2BS, keeping a 30 ft distance between himself and Right Spot.

On my 0732 Spitting Cave check the highlight of my day occurred. For the first time ever, I saw Kolohe somewhere other then Rabbit Island. He was doing 7 to 8 minute dives.

During the period when he had a transmitter on, Charles' magic computer showed him in the Moku Manu area in the period 8-27-08 to 9-14-08, and Gordon Olyvar sighted him at MCBH on 8-28-08. Surfers reported him in the water at Wailupe on 1-2-09, and Aina Haina on 1-10-09, and though I know he's gone for extended periods from Rabbit Island, today marks the first time that I personally ever saw him any place but Rabbit Island. His right side natural bleach was shining brightly, but my shots just couldn't capture it in the rough water .

Team Billand had a busy little day. They called at 1035 reporting Kermit fronting #1708 at White Plains, and then called again at 1110 with the report of Irma on Kalaeloa Beach, at "Wind Sock". The real surprise of the day came with their 1127 call reporting Ewa Girl near the bunkers on Kalaeloa Beach, just west of Wind Sock. She had last been seen (by the Billands) at Campbell Industrial Park on 11-13-09

The last call of the day came as the Billands were responding to LahiLahi Point at Makaha in response to a Tracy call about an animal there. At 1713 Barbara confirmed Benny as the critter.
