DB Post Tuesday 3/10/2009

Rabbit Island observations were almost back to normal. The cool temps and winds were manageable, and best of all there was sunshine and decent visibility. The Rabbit Island cast would prove to be, subadult male R301 , adult male, RIP, and both of the little girls, RB08 and Sadie. RB08 was hanging out with 301, and they were joined by RIP at mid day. Sadie stay by herself at the far left end of the island. I noticed today that RB08 has a barely visible remnant of her fish hook removal on her under jaw, but it probably wouldn't be noticeable if you didn't know her history. I doubt that it will affect her future in Monk Seal beauty pageants.

The Billand had a routine Billand day, reporting a probable R018 at Tracks (1027), then Irma at Palm Grove, Campbell Industrial Park 1115), and Ewa Girl at Nimitz Beach fronting the cottages (1210), and lastly Kermit on a small isolated beach at the entrance to Kalaeloa Harbor at 1620.

The Billands are fighting their way home to the west side at this writing, through yet another road closure for west bound traffic..................again ! I'll forward their shots if they ever get home. Aloha, DB
