Well folks, how was that for a crappy morning ? I'm pretty sure all of us were seeing the same wind and rain, with more wind and rain, until around mid day. The junk weather conditions and the humongeous waves at Rabbit Island and the pier, made for impossible conditions. I did manage to see somebody up in the Morning Glory at the 3rd Blue Sign (BS) at 0718, which would ultimately prove to be little Kolohe, but that was all until things began to improve and I managed to get back to Makai Pier for RI observations at 1148.
At that time I found that RIP and Sadie had joined th Rabbit Island cast. They were on some newly exposed , seal sized rocks at the left end of the island. They would move onto what is left of the sand at that end at 1300. At 1309, Buster would haul out to join them, but a few barks from RIP kept him at a distance of 20 ft or so for the rest of the day.
Kolohe would finally come down out of the grasses at 1300, so that I could get an ID.
The Billands did a complete SW quadrant check in the morning under hideous conditions, and found nobody, and then went off to a day of Whale work.. They called again to say that they had found M&M at Palm Grove, Campbell Industrial Park, at 1610, on their way home.
