3-2-2012 DB Dailies: Kolohe,RM38&U/U@RI, Buster@CW, M&M@CIP, Noa@Maili, RO28@KoOlina

The Elves and I were on it bright and early in the SE quadrant, but Kaiwi was a no show, and it would be 1020 before the first critter was seen.

At 1020 I found Kolohe (RW22) on the water front rocks, 40 ft left of Seal Rock Inlet , on Rabbit Island, and RM38, 40 ft right of Seal Rock Inlet. I would not actually get the M38 ID until 1438.

On my 1407 recheck of RI, I found a new arrival down in a depression on the left end rock flats of RI. I was never able to see enough to make an ID, however I did see 2 red tags. Maybe tomorrow ????

Dera called at 1203 with the report of an animal behind 60 Hanapepe Loop in Portlock. There was nobody home at the address, so I accessed the location via China Walls, mini park. The house is the 2nd mauka of the beach park. Once there I found Buster (RV08). I spoke with the pool guy who made the call later, and he advised that he'd seen the same animal off and on last week, which would explain Buster's absence last week.
Posse member Kathy called at 1330 to report an animal foraging at Blowhole. When I arrived at 1348 I found Irma (R010) doing 7 minute dives.

Team Billand checked in at 0943 to report M&M (R020) at Palm Grove, Campbell Industrial Park. Yes.. she is lookin' alittle chunky. I've got my dollar on 6-7-12 ???
At 1106 the Billands found Noa (R6FI) at Maili.

Dana called at 1538 with the report of an animal at Secret Beach. An ID was not possible. Team Billand called at 1633 to confirm the Pohaku (RO28) ID. Barbara advise she was on Lanikohohua Beach, next door Secret Beach.
 Buster @ China Walls
Gee this looks familar.... wonder if Kaiwi picked up some of Buster's traits
I wonder if he thinks he's hidden.
 Irma @ Blow hole
 U/U @ Rabbit Island
 M+M @ Campbells
Pretty Girl
 Noa @ Maili Point
 RO28 @ KoOlina

3-1-2012 DB Dailies: Irma@HB, Kolohe@RI, Kaiwi@TLB, Kermit@WP, R018&Noa@Maili,Right Spot@TB, 2AW@Hau Bush

At 0636 I found that Irma (R010) had overnighted at Hanauma Bay. I cordoned her off and she has remained all day. I got a better look at her left side today, and noted that she has shark teeth wounds on her left side also. Obviously, this "man in the gray suit" had a mouth fulla' Irma there for a second. Thankfully, she got away, and the wounds appear superficial. Irma departed of her own volition at 1719. I don't even want to think about it.... good thing miss Irma can still shake her booty when it counts...

I can not even begin to tell you how stoked I was to get an ID on yesterday's mystery critter at Rabbit Island. Today, after a long hard observation, it turned out to Be KOLOHE (RW22)!!! I have not seen the boy since his fish hook was removed on 1-23-12. It has been a lonnnnng 36 days. Hooray!  I was worried too... one of the original caretakers from the north shore recently inquired about him... so glad we got an update!

At 1156, Hanauma Bay posse member Ann called with the report of an animal at Toilet Bowl. I spoke with HB posse member Marlon who had gone down there, and called me to report N19 !! When I arrived at 1210 , sure enough there was Kaiwi (RK96) snoozin' near the Toilet Bowl. This kid is getting around.... hitting all the haul outs on the south east side.

Team Billand checked in at 0926 with the report of Kermit (R012) fronting #1707, White Plains.
At 1158 the Billands found R018 at Maili.
At 1216 they found Noa (R6FI), several feet down the beach at Maili.

Dana called at 1658 with the report of Right Spot (R016) on the reef at the Turtle Bay Hotel beach.
Team Billand found 2AW at Hau Bush at 1757.

Irma @ Hanauma Bay
pretty scary seeing this on Irma... wish we knew where this happened
In spite of her close call, she's looking pretty good.
And this is toilet bowl .... can't believe the little bugger hauled out here
 she's growing up fast
 KOLOHE IS BACK!
Kermit @ White Plains... looking fat and happy
nothing like rubbing your own belly
did you say FAT and happy?
okay then... 3 sets of 10 crunches will get ya back in shape
 6FA R018 @ Maili
 Noa 6FI/6FJ @ Maili
Noa using his tail as a musical instrument... seal cymbals
 hooray that sounded good!
