6/6/2010 DB Dailies

The Rabbit Island cast for today was Ewa Girl& pup (D#12) at the left end of the beach, Duke at the right end of the beach, and Sadie 80 ft right of 3BS. Duke would relocated to 3BS later in the day. EG&P would do 3 swims and 3 feeds.

That would have been fine except that at 1129 they got some company in the form to two males on kayaks . They hauled out just left of 1BS, and proceeded directly to Ewa Girl&pup. They took turns taking pictures of one another with the critters in the background. Ewa Girl was very much aware but did not depart. The guys returned to their kayaks to have a beer (Primo...bottles), and then returned to Ewa Girl&pup for another round of photos. This time Ewa Girl&pup entered the water, and the guys continued to explore the island to the left end. When they got back to their kayaks Ewa Girl&pup where just off shore of their kayaks so they took more pictures. They finally departed the island at 1156, and landed at Kaupo Beach Park at 1246.

My initial call to DOCARE came at 1130. Subsequent calls to update the dispatcher made it abundantly clear that there would be no DOCARE response to this incident....again !!!
Two more that got away clean..........again !!!

Fortunately, there was happier news. Team Billand called at 0745 with the report of 4DF at the Nimitz Beach cottages.

Their next call was the highlight of the day. At 0916 it was Barbara, "They're here...They're here !!!!!". Whoa Barbara....who.....were ? "They're here.....Buster and Rocky at Wind Sock !!!". They would haul out to the reef and it sounded like there was lots of spatting. They would depart Wind Sock at 0943, and beginning swimming in a west direction passing Nimitz Beach , the jetty and Kermit's Reef and continuing on toward the point, approximately a mile or so to the west. The Navy cops tried to keep up on a quad but ultimately lost them. Team Billand relocated to Campbell Industrial Park and sure enough at 1210 Rocky and Buster hauled out to a stretch of beach approximately 200 yds or so east of the Barber's Point Beach Park, about a 3rd of the way out to Palm Grove. They were still spatting (Buster&Rocky, not Barbara&Robert).

Kenyon Expeditions made the Ka'ena Poin trek again today, found Ka'ena and CeeCee at the end of the world. As always, Thank You.....very much !!!
