August 3, 2025 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:42 to 2:33 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.
On LPB were four seals:
Furthest Lanikai directions was Recent Weaner 1: chubby weaner size and shape, male belly and not tags yet.
Near each other at the back of LPB near the cliff were three seals:
Recent Weaner 2: ( either PO11 or PO12) chubby weaner size and shape, lighter male belly and no tags.
Juvenile Female: larger juvenile or small sub-adult size, new coat, light gray female belly and at least one tag. This seal disappeared at some point while Marilyn was watching the birds.
Unknown Unknown: mostly hidden at the pack of LPB next to the cliff was an unknown. seal appeared to have an older brown dorsal, but no information on size or sex. This seal also disappeared at some point.
At 1:12 pm, weaner RU24 hauled out near the 1BS and went into snooze mode: older weaner size, two red tags and light gold male belly.

Team R&B got a call just as they were finishing their breakfast, that there were two seals at pokai.
They got to the area and on the rocks they found RM31 Kai alone snoozing.
To the waterfront rocks they saw RH76 Kala. She galumphed higher up and was hidden away in a good spot.

Next they saw two seals haul out at tracks. One was a large male and the other was female. The female had a scar on her head and lots off cc scars. They ID'd her as R604. They just didn't have anything to go on to ID the male so he was reported as an Unknown Male.

Team R&B headed over to Plains and they found KG89 Huakai on shore.  She still has the hooked left corner of her mouth and line is about 10 inches. The beach was packed and there were lots of questions. They did their best to answer the folks who were interested.

They left plains and while on the road they got a text of a seal arriving at tower 2 at plains. So they turned around and headed back and found
Miss Lei Ola RH48. She was close to the showers again and the lifeguards had blocked off the area. She got hit with the waves and headed up, so the lifeguards moved the signs back. Then two boys with a football landed in the zone, so they all yelled out.
A volunteer showed up and said he was there to document the hooked seal. Team R&B filled him in on KG89.
