Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:35 to 2:25 pm and there were five seals seen during that time.
Out on the rock flats on the Lanikai side of LPB was recent weaner RU64 : chubby weaner size, two red tags and light male belly.
At 1:01 pm recent weaner RU48 hauled out on the Lanikai side of LPB. Marilyn believes the applied bleach she saw yesterday is truly an applied bleach based on todays photos. It appears the N27 bleach on RU48 partly took. RU48: chubby weaner size and shape, two red tags and light male belly. Weaner moved up the beach and played with something on the beach before going into snooze mode.
There were three seals partly hidden in a depression on the middle of LPB:
TempN25: sub-adult size, new dark upper coat, scar above LFF, light male belly.
Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, about 80% molted, light female belly, no info on tags.
Unknown Adult: adult size, unsure about sex or tags. The UA was "nosed" by TempN25.
Team R&B started out bright and early at rest camp. They were there for over an hour and never saw any seals.
They eventually found RH76 Kala with RG32 resting on the rocks at pokai. Both were still there on their afternoon check.
While they were watching over Kala and G32, they scanned the rest camp side again and spotted a seal. It was an adult male foraging, but they just didn't have much to go on.
They decided to head over to tracks to look for R604. It took a little bit but finally found her alone onshore enjoying the sunshine. She is looking gorgeous with her new coat, even with all her cc scars.
As they were leaving the sight, they noticed people getting out of the water and looking to the right. Then they got a text that another seal was coming in. Of course Team R&B rushed back and saw the seal heading towards R604.
It was RH32 Kaale, who hurried over to R604 and sniffed her. She woke up and barked at him, which did not deter him He was excited and approached her, she barked again and then he backed off. Finally settling in and laying next to her. She was okay with that.
RH32 then entered the water and left, looking back to see if she would follow, but she remained.
