August 23, 2025 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:06 to 2:42 pm and there six seals, two kayakers and a dog seen during that time.
On the middle slope of LPB were four seals:
A recent weaner labeled RU48 (could be RU64): chubby weaner size and shape, two red tags, and light male belly.
An Unknown Weaner: older weaner size and shape, two red tags and unsure about sex,
An Unknown Juvenile: juvenile size, older coat, two red tags, not sure about sex.
Another recent weaner labeled RU64: chubby weaner size and shape, two red tags and light male belly.
On the 1BS of LPB were two seals:
TempN25: sub-adult size, fully molted, light male belly, no tags. He was scared off the beach by a dog that arrived on a kayak with two people. At 2:10 pm TempN25 hauled out between 3BS and SRI.
Nearby was a Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, old coat with lots of green, green female belly and at least one red tag. She was very aware of the dog but did not leave.
At 1:57 pm two men in kayaks, with a dog landed on Rabbit Island between the group of four and two seals. Marilyn called into DOCARE and left a message. She did not hear back from them.  After the dog approached TempN25 the owner put the dog on a leash. They left about 20 minutes later.

Team R&B started their day by spotting a one seal on the rest camp side foraging.  They couldn't get a good enough shot from afar so it was reported as an Unknown Adult. (they think it was Lei Ola but
could not confirm).  They saw so many people out today on boogie boards, paddle boards, swimmers and snorkelers.

They were out at the Kahe area for quite awhile and finally to their excitement they saw a seal approaching very cautiously. It was Kai RM31 looking quite green. He has some kind of bite marks on his neck area with a ding. RM31 hauled up on the rocks.
Minutes later they heard a bark and went to check it out. There was RL20 Kalua having words with RM31. The argument was brief then he galumphed over to his pond side. RL20 is greener than RM31.

Team R&B made their way out to plains, in that they were worried about all the people that would be out in the area where R604 would be molting.
Well sure enough there she was resting and looking a mess.  As Team R&B were getting some pictures a fisher passed by really close to her, she wasn't happy about it.  R604 entered the water and kept looking for the fisher. She stayed just along the shore line and made her way to another spot and hauled out. Thankfully she settled down.
As far as her molt, her chest and belly area opening up, her face area showing and coming up and over her back.  She's a mess!

As they drove around they noticed a blob on shore at one of the west side beaches. They pulled over and the beach was packed. The seal
was fine. They ID'd  RL42 Leia. She is looking quite green but resting peacefully on shore.

Lastly they had one more critter. In a pond made from the showers was a little plover sitting in the water cooling off.
