August 13, 2025 Wednesday's Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:28 to 3:30 pm and there were nine seals during that time.
Way out on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB was one of the recent weaners. Marilyn labeled this seal as RU48 (but it might be RU64). The seal was determined to be a recent weaner by its chubby weaner size and shape, two red tags and male belly. Marilyn noted this is the first time she has seen any seal out this far on the rock flats.
On the Lanikai side of LPB were two seals:
Recent weaner as RU64: recent weaner size chubby size and shape, two red tags and male belly.
Not far away was an Unknown Weaner: older weaner size, light belly and two red tags. Marilyn couldn't determine its sex so it being reported as an unknown.
In the middle of LPB was a Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, older coat, tan female belly, not sure about tags. She originally though this was TempN25 but she's pretty sure this seal had a female belly.
Alone near the waterline between 3BS and SRI was weaner RU38: older weaner size and shape, two red tags and tan female belly.
At 12:44 pm Marilyn saw that a seal had hauled out of the RRB surge channel. Soon after saw there was a second larger seal there and later two more seals showed up.
First seal seen was a Juvenile Female: juvenile size, new coat, light female belly and unsure about tags.
Adult Female: adult size, old brown coat, brown female belly, unsure about tags.
Next was an Adult Male: adult size, very green coat, green male belly and at least one red tag. He had dark circles around his eyes.
Unknown Juvenile show up: larger juvenile size, older coat, dark around the eyes, two red tags.

Team R&B started out at pokai spotting two seals foraging. They
waited and did their best to get an ID but no such luck. One was at the rest camp side, and they could only determine it was an adult.
The other was foraging to the right of Heiau, but no id other than a clean coat, like it had just molted.

Their only other find today was at plains. There were two seals, Aukai RL12 with her new beau RN14 Kalani. They were both resting, but then RN14 started barking. Team R&B couldn't figure out why or what he was barking at. Shortly after the two left the area heading in the ewa direction.

Although they didn't see many seals today they did observe lots of dolphins. They were thrilled to see mom and her calf.
